OUR LOYAL 2016 MUSIC MINISTRY

Bettie Spivey, Minister of Music
Sister Spivey’s melodious voice is heard along with the piano or organ she plays on 1st, 4th and 5th Sunday mornings.
She came to Cedar Landing as musician for the Senior Choir in 1993. She presently plays for the Mass Choir. Occasionally, during special events, it becomes necessary for her to combine all the choirs as the United Mass Choir. She is also musician for the Youth Choir on 5th Sundays which is under the leadership of Sister April Swain. Sister Spivey is faithful and willingly provides support with all church related music activities.

James Speller, vocalist and organist for 3rd Sunday Services
Brother Speller came to us as a young man in 1987 as musician for the Youth Choir. Sister Annie Craig was choir director at the time. In 1994, The United Gospel Choir, which included some members from the Youth Choir was organized and he was their musician. They sang and glorified God on alternate 3rd Sundays. During some church events requiring his services, He combined the Youth Choir and The United Gospel Choirs to provide music.

Music Ministry
O sing to the Lord a new song, for He has done marvelous things. (Psalm 98:1)
Inspirational music has been one of the core elements of Cedar Landing Missionary Baptist Church since its very beginning. The music ministry is committed to enhancing the worship experience through Christ exalting music and setting the mood for praise.
Some of our musicians from the past were: Zetella Watson who organized and directed several Cedar Landing choirs. She was a dedicated musician and church member. Church records indicates that she served many years as church musician. Others musicians were Benjamin Speller, William Sanders Bell, George Rountree, Mabel Wynn, Kenny Shepney, Evelyn Harmon and Edith Outterbridge.
